►Three paragraphs that explain the rise in Latino spending in the Los Angeles area

“Housing spending by Latinos in Los Angeles County totaled $29 billion in 2014. They also spent $10.9 billion on food, outpacing the $8.5 billion that was collectively spent by black, Asian and other non-white households that year.

“Those numbers came from a newly released report from Beacon Economics entitled, “An Analysis of Latino Household Consumer Spending in Los Angeles County.” The report also shows that more than $1 of every $4 spent by Angelinos in 2014 came from Latino households. That’s spending power.

“Much of that comes from the fact that Latinos now account for a big part of the population in many Southland communities. The Beacon report highlights 15 L.A. County cities where Latinos make up 8o percent or more of the population. Those include Irwindale, San Fernando, Pico Rivera, Baldwin Park and South El Monte, among others.”
