Men accused of killing Latino man in Jupiter, FL, targeted him because of race, police say

Onesimo Marcelino Lopez-Ramos, his brother and a friend were relaxing outside in the early hours of April 18 when five men came up and wanted to chat.

It seemed friendly at first, Lopez-Ramos’ brother would tell police, but he began to feel uneasy. As the conversation turned, Lopez-Ramos and his friend bolted away. Almost instantly one of the men grabbed a rock, bashed Lopez-Ramos’ head and killed him, according to an arrest report.

The three Guatemalan men didn’t know it, but they were targeted. The five men had sought them out — they were “hunting” for Guatemalans, according to the report.
