Journalist-turned-immigration activist Jose Antonio Vargas detained at Texas airport

Jose Antonio Vargas, a former journalist who has spent the past few years crusading on behalf of fellow undocumented immigrants, was detained at McAllen-Miller International Airport on Tuesday while trying to leave the Texas border town.

Define American, the nonprofit U.S. immigration-reform campaign founded by Vargas, announced the detainment, which came after a series of public pronouncements by Vargas that he might be trapped on the border.
