Mexican-American History Books Approved by Arizona Are Not Authored by Latinos

The controversial Arizona city ban on Mexican American studies curriculum has garnered even more controversy, now that the approved replacement curriculum includes no Latino-authored books.

The Tucson Unified School District voted 3 to 2 to approve books for the “culturally relevant” courses mandated by a federal judge in an ongoing desegregation case, reports the Huffington Post. The section, now labeled “U.S. History — Mexican American Culturally Relevant Viewpoint” is missing one big element: Mexican-American authors.
