In Oregon, Advocates Riding Tide of ‘Latino Spring’

I like stories like this one, for it’s perspective.

It comes to us from Oregon, not one of the usual Latino political or population strongholds. And that’s why the point of view is important. There’s been a surge of energy behind Latino advocacy, mostly centered around the immigration issue. But it also has to do with the surge in Latino population across the country that has left few corners of America untouched. In Oregon some people are calling it the “Latino Spring.”

In Oregon’s capitol, pictured above, there’s a bill being considered that will permit short term drivers licenses to people who can’t prove their citizenship.
