Latino Health Coverage & 2012 Tax Returns – What’s the Link?

There are approximately 53 million Latinos living in the United States, according to the most recent census data, and of those, 31.1 percent are without health care coverage. Now, during the 2012 tax return season, Latinos—and many other U.S. residents—will be eligible to benefit from government assistance programs designed to help cover the cost of health insurance.
Starting in 2014, several options will exist for Latinos who lack health care coverage. Maite Arce, Executive Director of the Hispanic Access Foundation, explains eligibility for 2014 tax credits will be based on tax returns starting in 2012.
