Jazz de México

By Victor Landa, NewsTaco

What a week!

Nothing I can do or say here can assuage the hardships and losses suffered by the people living in the path of Hurricane Sandy. Just now the difficult work of rebuilding lives and towns begins. Those who’ve lived the fury of the storm know that the thoughts and prayers of the rest of the country are with them, but it’s good to hear it, so we say it – our thoughts and prayers are with you.

The day after the storm there was a picture in the local paper of a convoy of electrical utility work trucks on it’s way to the Northeast; San Antonio’s utility is city owned, so we feel as if we’ve all got a stake in the convoy.

It’s human nature, isn’t it, to look for the silver lining?  It’s also human nature to race back to normalcy, in order to find our bearing after the storm. So we go back to the familiar, and here at NewsTaco that means Friday Jazz de México – Latino musicians and composers, brought to you by San Antonio KRTU 91.7′s Jorge Canavati, recorded in the studios at Trinity University.

¡Adelante!
