Study to focus on political advertising and Latinos (CNN):  The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Kantar Media/Campaign Media and Analysis Group launched a project on Tuesday, ‘Speak Our Language: Spanish Political Media,’ to “seek to ensure that political candidates prioritize Spanish language political campaign advertising in a manner that is proportionate to how critical the Hispanic vote is to so many races across the country during the cycle.”

Mitt Romney to be Introduced by Marco Rubio at Convention (Fox News Latino): The role of introducing the expected Republican presidential nominee brings the potential to catapult Rubio – who already enjoys a high national profile – onto an even more prominent pedestal among the American public.

Has Mitt Romney given up on the Latino vote? (Christian Science Monitor): Having forgone a minority or a woman for the ticket, Romney has made another telling choice with a keynote speaker who is also neither – particularly in not selecting a Hispanic. Two people who could easily have filled the keynote slot were Senator Rubio and Senate candidate Ted Cruz of Texas, another rising Latino star in the GOP.

Conservatives like Ryan, Latinos don’t (San Francisco Chronicle): Analysts predict that the quick benefits from Ryan’s smooth start could be threatened by controversies over the lawmaker’s congressional record that could cause problems among key voter blocs, including Latinos, Baby Boomers and the elderly.

More Than Ever, Latinos Distancing From Republican Party (Fronteras): Republican vice presidential candidate Rep. Paul Ryan favors slashing funding for education, Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid and opposes the DREAM Act — issues important to Latinos. Business group says election campaigns neglect Hispanics (Fox News Latino): According to the business association, an average of 4 percent of the electoral advertising budget goes to Spanish-language radio, though the Hispanic community’s proportion among registered voters is expected to be around 11 percent in November’s presidential election.

Latinos Fall through the Cracks in Anti-Medicaid States (Fox News Latino): The non-partisan Kaiser Family Foundation estimated last year that the Affordable Care Act – referred to by its opponents as “Obamacare” – would extend Medicaid coverage to some 8 million Latinos. That was before the July Supreme Court ruling that allowed states to refuse to expand Medicaid without incurring penalties.

Immigrant-Owned U.S. Companies Said to Generate $775 Billion (Bloomberg): Immigrant-owned businesses employ one in 10 U.S. workers in private companies and inject more than $775 billion of revenue into the U.S. economy, according to the Partnership for a New American Economy.
