Poll: Florida voters favor President Barack Obama’s immigration policies (McClatchy/The Miami Herald):  Florida voters, particularly in immigrant-rich pockets of South and Central Florida, overwhelmingly say they support comprehensive immigration reform that would give people living in the state illegally a pathway to citizenship, according to a new Miami Herald/Tampa Bay Times/Bay News 9 poll.

Former immigration intelligence chief jailed for fraud (Reuters/Chicago Tribune):  A former U.S. federal immigration intelligence director who lured four subordinates into fraudulently claiming more than $500,000 in fake expense and pay claims was sentenced to 20 months in prison on Friday, authorities said.

It’s Bigger Than Texas: Voting Rights News Roundup (The Nation):  If the court rules in favor of the DOJ, and finds that Texas must obtain preclearance, the court will then also have to attend to the constitutional challenge to Section 5, which may result in a new venue at the Supreme Court.

In Mexico, Central American immigrants under fire (CNN):  More than 100 immigrants from Central America arrive daily in Lecheria, this working-class neighborhood outside the country’s capital. Most are Guatemalans, Hondurans and Salvadorans who don’t stay long; they are stowaways on cargo trains heading north to the United States.

Comic-Con: From Mexico to DC, Latino Families Storm Convention (Fox News Latino):  With tickets ranging from $40 for a day pass to $175 for a four-day pass, it’s not a small expense for the average family to attend the largest comic convention worldwide—San Diego Comic-Con. Mexican president sees anti-drug strategy continuing under PRI (Fox News Latino):  Mexican President Felipe Calderon said in an interview published Sunday by Spain’s El Pais newspaper that he was convinced that his anti-drug strategy and reforms would be continued by Enrique Peña Nieto, of the Institutional Revolutionary Party, or PRI, who won the July 1 presidential election.
