(Christian Science Monitor):  President Obama’s recent decision to allow young illegal immigrants in the military or in school deferral from deportation is “an open invitation to fraud,” says the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee in a letter sent to the director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on Tuesday.

Half of Hispanic voters identify as independent rather than partisan (The Seattle Times):  About 51 percent of Hispanic voters identified themselves as political independents in a Gallup poll released Monday. Many immigrants said Monday that they were shocked his Institutional Revolutionary Party — which largely convinced them to leave their homeland — has returned to power.

Illegal Immigrants Celebrating July Fourth? (Huffington Post):  When I was an illegal immigrant I celebrated Independence Day as if it were a spiritual holiday. In the charged rhetoric about Latino immigration our national conversation could benefit from re-imagining our unalienable rights. Our values and moral compass would be deepened by viewing the pursuit of life, liberty and justice through the lens of our mutual pursuit of inter-dependence.
