NewsTaco Joins Simulcast Of Immigrant Rights “Roadblock”

By Victor Landa, NewsTaco

By all indications – including “experts,” observers, tea leaves and weather veins – the Supreme Court ruling on SB1070 was to be handed down yesterday, the first day that such rulings are made on the Supreme Court calendar. But no such luck.

Be that as it may, there’s been a concerted effort in Arizona to prepare for the looming “show me your papers” decision. On one hand Governor Jan Brewer has ordered that her State police troopers begin training on immigration law;  she’s sure that the Justices will uphold the portions of the law that will allow the cops to double as immigration agents. And she’s not alone. Almost all observers feel that the High Court will bend that way. Even opponents of the controversial law are preparing for what is, in their eyes, the worst.

In that effort, NewsTaco is joining with media outlets across Arizona in an unprecedented simulcast: Hoy Somos Arizona. It’s unprecedented because otherwise rival TV and radio stations and networks will be working together to form a media “roadblock” to empower listeners and viewers with correct information to avoid panic and protect themselves. Every Spanish language radio and television station in Arizona will be simulcasting the 30 minute program which will  also be live streamed at http://hoysomosarizona.com/wordpress1/, Wednesday, June 20th, at 5:30 MST.

NewsTaco will have live updates on our Facebook wall and Twiter stream.
