Autopsy Blames Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s Officers In Death Of Latino Military Veteran (Talking Points Memo):  A powerful Arizona lawyer called for a criminal investigation into some of Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s officers on Thursday after a long-awaited autopsy determined they were partly to blame for the death of Latino military veteran in December.

Florida vote ruling seen as win for poor, minorities (Los Angeles Times):  Efforts in Florida to curtail voter registration drives and purge names from the voting rolls were dealt a set of legal blows Thursday, drawing cheers from voting rights activists who say the state has been attempting to prevent certain types of people from exercising their civic rights.

Florida intent on denying people the right to vote (CNN):  Now there is nothing wrong with any state ensuring that those who are eligible to vote are American citizens. But when it comes to Florida, they didn’t even take the necessary precautions to ensure that folks who are legal citizens wouldn’t be a part of their purge process. The big question is, why now? Why would Florida, with a statewide vote coming up in 90 days, choose now of all times to do this?

House sends voter ID proposal to study (Boston Herald):  Arguing enhanced efforts to ensure the identity of voters could disenfranchise some people, House Democrats on Thursday agreed to a further study of the issue, disappointing Republican lawmakers who believe their proposal will root out voter fraud.

Battles Over Voter ID Laws Intensify (NPR): As both parties turn to the general election, and the potentially pivotal role of minority voters, battles over voter identification and other new state election laws are intensifying.
