Happy Friday From Luis Alberto Spinetta
Luis Alberto Spinetta, a legendary musician also known as “el flaco”, passed away on Wednesday as a result of lung cancer. The 62-year-old was considered to be one of the fathers of Argentine rock, with an influential catalog of music that spanned over 40 years.
Spinetta founded several different bands including Almendra, Pescado Rabioso, Invisible, and Spinetta Jade, and was acclaimed for his poetic style and avant-garde lyrics.
His death marks a profound loss for Argentina and Latin American music, as crowds took to the streets of Buenos Aires on Thursday to watch his funeral procession and pay their last respects.
Enjoy a few of Spinetta’s best songs while starting off the weekend. Chau, Flaco! Rest in peace.
