Latino Men Are The Prettiest Of Them All
Turns out Latino men are more likely to spend time and money on their personal maintenance than men from other groups, according to a study from Univisión. The study focused on the grooming habits of Latino males and found that they were more likely to use self care products, as well as drop more cash for them, here’s a report from The Los Angeles Times:
Results of the study, titled “Why Latinos Look So Good,” were announced in New York City in March and include the following insights: While Latino men use basic grooming products (think soap and shampoo) with the same frequency as other men, when it comes to the “non-basic” products, the behavior shifts. According to the study, Latinos use hair-styling products an average of 3.4 times per week compared to 1.7 times per week for non-Latinos, as well as more moisturizer (3.7 times vs. 2.0 times a week) and fragrance (4.2 vs. 2.9 times).
As a result, the study estimates that Latino men spend an average of $8 more per month than their non-Latino counterparts on personal care products, which is no small chunk of change.
I honestly hadn’t ever thought of this before, but now that this study points it out, I can see how Latinos may be more disposed to a culture of being “arreglado” than other groups, since being a skater or a hipster often entails not being made up. Plus, there’s always the “fresa” phenomenon that’s guaranteed to be putting some big bucks in the pockets of the makers of gel and cologne.
It goes back to the same statistic we’ve often reported here at News Taco, that Latinos in the U.S. make up a $1 trillion market, which means everyone wants a piece of them. What do you say, do the Latino men you know fit with the profile in this report?
