Happy Friday From Piñata Protest!

Ask Álvaro Del Norte, lead singer and accordion player in the accordion-fitted punk band Piñata Protest why he loves music, and the answer may be hard to come by. “Obviously, I love it,” Del Norte told News Taco, even if it was hard to put his finger on just one reason.

Del Norte and his band members grew up listening to Norteño, Tejano and Cumbia music growing up, yet, they also began listening to punk music. So, to the members, it seemed a natural fusion. And while it may seem strange, having seem them live and listened to their music, I’ll say myself that not only do they pull it off — but it’s actually pretty good.

The band hopes to eventually be able to dedicate their professional lives to music, currently they all work, and in the meantime are trying to make it onto the Warped Tour’s San Antonio stop.
