Latinos, Redistircting And the Voting Rights Act
We’ve all been pretty much looking west when it comes to national Latino politics. And it’s well intended, because Arizona has been taking up most of the attention with its notorious SB1070.
It’s one year since all that nonsense began and the law is stalled in federal court; meanwhile laws like it are being thought up and conjured in many states. Most recently Georgia has taken a stab at it. What’s happened is that now that Georgia is making us look East, into the Deep South; we’re beginning to see importance of what’s happing over there, in states like Alabama, Arkansas and others.
That, in the deep south, is where the next front in the infringement of civil rights is gathering steam.
