VIDEO: Pitting Immigrants, African-Americans Against Each Other

African-Americans and immigrants are often pitted against each other by politicians in this country trying to convince us all that there’s only so much to go around, and so we must fight amongst ourselves for the crumbs. This according to Oscar Chacón, Executive Director of the National Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Communities (NALACC).

What results from these fights are that, collectively, issues of labor and civil rights become diluted in the resulting infighting. Chacón talks about NALACC’s outreach efforts in African-American communities and what issues these communities and immigrants communities have in common.
