Ray High School’s Mariachi Custodian

The Corpus Christi Caller Times (Texas) did an amazing video documenting local high school custodian Mario Tovar, who has become a fixture at Ray High School for singing mariachi music as he works. Here’s an excerpt from the story:

The 27-year CCISD employee began to whistle and soon couldn’t resist the music any longer. He burst into the words of “Una Pagina Más,” a ranchera that tells the story of someone starting a new page in their life after losing love…

He often is heard throughout the halls at Ray singing Elvis and mariachi songs. He serenades teachers and administrators to mark their retirements. On their birthdays, he sings “Las Mañanitas.”
