GOP Candidate Says Deport Farmworkers, Make Blacks Work in The Fields

How do you get a group of Republican politicians to run away from you as fast as they can? Say something stupid like this, reported in the BuffaloNews.com, in the state of New York:

Congressional candidate Jack Davis shocked local Republican leaders in a recent interview when he suggested that Latino farmworkers be deported — and that African-Americans from the inner city be bused to farm country to pick the crops.

I’ve been tossing this thing around, looking at it’s ugly underbelly, trying to find an angle where it doesn’t look as bad as it smells – but no luck. This is pure, unadulterated, racist ignorance.

It’s not the first time candidate Davis has made this kind of remark. Back in 2008 he said pretty much the same thing – it’s his plan to put inner city blacks to work. But it gets better.

Davis is running for a congressional seat left vacant after the abrupt resignation of “Rep. Chris Lee, an Amherst Republican who resigned last month after getting caught in an Internet flirtation with a woman who wasn’t his wife.”

What’s a Republican leader to do? Cut-bait.

“I was thunderstruck,” said Amherst GOP Chairman Marshall Wood. “Maybe in 1860 that might have been seen by some as an appropriate comment, but not now.”

Thunderstruck. That’s hellfire and brimstone, slap you upside the face with a heavy bible kind of stuff. No one, that we know so far, has endorsed Davis’ candidacy. Ya think it was something he said?

So who is this guy? Apparently he’s a rich industrialist – with a million and a half dollars to spare. That’s how much he recently donated to his alma mater, the University of Buffalo. The money will be used to build a clean-room, for the development and study of nano technology. Interesting no? I wonder if he’s ever thought about taking the field workers and inner city blacks and helping them study to find a job in his million dollar clean room?
