Ya Sabe Search Engine Highlights Latino Businesses
YaSabe.com is a combination bilingual search engine and business directory that is aimed at helping Latinos find the products they need while putting the types of Latino businesses attuned to their cultural needs in their path. Ya Sabe’s Samanta Sequeira says the idea is to connect Latinos to their community through business.
“What we do is enable our users to search both in English and Spanish for culturally relevant restaurants, music, anything where the connection with the Latino community would be valuable. Lawyers, doctors, those things that are really important to have someone that speaks your own language and understands you,” she says.
Ya Sabe launched in October of 2010 and, as of now, is profitable. The company sells targeted Latino advertising to local businesses and is working on national deals with U.S. and Latin American companies. There are three levels to the business, the free listing, the ability to find and claim your business and improve the free listing or paying to increase your rank in the search results.
Thus far Ya Sabe has been successful in California, Washington, D.C., New Mexico, Texas, Utah and in Latin America. The future of the company is to create a mobile application, but to also strengthen local and national partnerships.
