Chef Michael Recipe: Apple Squares With Texas Pecans

Ingredients:
- 1 apple, peeled, cored, diced
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup texas pecans, chopped
Directions:
- Sprinkle the baking soda over the apples and set aside. thoroughly blend the two sugars and cinnamon together and add them to the flour.
- Stir in the butter followed by eggs and vanilla; combine well.
- Finally, stir in the apples, and pecans. Pour into a greased 13”x 9” pan and bake at 350* F for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool before cutting.
Yields 2 1/2 dozen
