Chef Michael Recipe: Apple Squares With Texas Pecans

Ingredients:

  • 1 apple, peeled, cored, diced
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup texas pecans, chopped

Directions:

  • Sprinkle the baking soda over the apples and set aside. thoroughly blend the two sugars and cinnamon together and add them to the flour.
  • Stir in the butter followed by eggs and vanilla; combine well.
  • Finally, stir in the apples, and pecans. Pour into a greased 13”x 9” pan and bake at 350* F for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Cool before cutting.

Yields 2 1/2 dozen
