Guapura 101: How To Avoid The Flu

One way to totally ruin the lovely spring weather that’s just barely beginning to rear its head is to get the flu. A great post from Women’s Health offers some great tips on how to avoid feeling yucky just before it’s time to bust out your sleeveless tops.

  • Stop smoking because it increases your chances of getting sick.
  • Don’t drink too much, because alcohol can drain your body of important immunity nutrients, like Vitamin C.
  • Cut back on fried foods, which can also make you more susceptible to infections.
  • Eat well and exercise, to keep your body in tip top shape.
  • Don’t touch your face — I do this all the time. In addition to helping you avoid acne, this will help keep from spreading stuff you touch with your hands (door knobs, ATMs, gas pumps, etc.) from getting on your face, or, entrances for infection.
  • Try not to feel too stressed, sleep well, because otherwise all that stress might prevent you from being in good germ-fighting mode.
  • Wash your hands often and for at least 15-20 seconds.
  • Don’t share utensils/plates/etc. Basically, this includes the office kitchen, other peoples’ homes and sharing food with friends.

Hopefully none of us will fall ill from the flu this season — I know I’m hoping to be too busy working out for bikini season to get sick!
