Happy Friday From Diego Bernal!

Diego Bernal is a 34 year-old renaissance man. He’s originally from San Antonio, became a social worker and attorney, worked for MALDEF, is currently running for city council, and somewhere in-between also managed to become a popular beat/electronic musician.

Bernal released his first album, For Corners, in 2009 and his second album, Besides…, in 2010. He says that being a Latino in the electronic arts scene carried the additional benefit that he wasn’t relegated to “ethnic music” sections of music stores, “The appeal and scope ofyour listeners is so broad and so diverse that I never felt that pigeonholed,” he says.

His music is influenced by his hometown of San Antonio, combines hip hop, some Latino-sounding music, guitars and other soft sounds into songs that pique your interest and urge to listen to the end.

Bernal says that his influences are diverse as his professional interests, something he hopes to translate to the diverse district where he hopes to become a city councilman. To listen and download Bernal’s music, click here, to learn more about Bernal as a candidate, click here.
