Rural, Low-Income Neighborhoods Have Slower Internet

A survey from the U.S. Department of Commerce found that people in lower-income and rural areas of the U.S. tend to have slower Internet connections than their wealthier and urban counterparts. Specifically, 5-10% of people in this country do not have Internet access fast enough to download a website.

Some more interesting figures, 32% of homes in the U.S. don’t use the Internet at home, 40% of rural homes don’t have Internet compared to 30% of urban homes. About 9% of homes in rural areas cannot access high-speed Internet even if they wanted to.
