Guapura 101: How To Make Your Manicure Last Longer

Okay ladies, just wanted to give you all some quick tips that I’ve learned from experience help to make your manicure last longer. Maybe you know these already because you’re smarter than I am, but here we go just for kicks. Mind you these are tips for do-it-yourself manicures at home, which practically look the same, but save you a trip and some money. I normally use a wide range of nail polishes that are purchased at my local drug stores.

  1. Wash your hands with particular attention to your nails and, if possible, scrub your nails clean with a nail brush. Make sure they’re completely dry before proceeding to the next step.
  2. Apply a base coat. I use nail hardener as my base coat, kill two birds with one stone, right?
  3. Apply your nail polish either before you’re going to take a drive (in the car) or if you won’t move at night, right before you go to bed so they can dry and you don’t mess them up. Alternately, if they’re not very long you can apply them before you’ll be doing computer work for a while. The point is not to mess up the paint.
  4. Apply another coat of nail hardener or top coat when you’re done applying the nail polish.

Like I said, you may already know some of these tips, but I had to figure them out for myself. Washing your nails really helps the polish stay on longer, as does the base and top coats, I used to think that it was just a gimmick the cosmetic companies had to get you to buy more products. But I was wrong, it really works.
