Guapura 101: Casera Cold Cures
If you’re like me, then you’ve already fought off a few colds this winter season — perhaps you may have even succumbed to them. So, I wanted to offer up a few tips that work for me, and also see whether anyone out there has any I haven’t heard of.
There are the classics:
- Washing your hands often.
- Vitamin C — in orange, juice, fizz or tablet form (I take tablets or fizz because I don’t like juice or the trouble of cutting oranges).
- Gargling once you get that tingly throat with salt water (preferably warm).
- Sucking on a lemon for your throat (Thanks for this suggestion Catherine).
- Drinking lime juice for your throat (I also do this and it seems to work well).
- Keeping warm (even though I always go out with my hair wet).
- Eating caldo or soup when you being to feel ill (just did the trick last week for me!)
A few other suggestions:
- Don’t cough/sneeze into your hands to avoid passing germs.
- Don’t touch your face, again, to avoid passing germs.
- Drink lots of fluids.
- Hydrate.
- Exercise.
- Eat yogurt and eat dark, leafy greens.
- Don’t smoke, apparently smokers get more and more severe colds.
- Relax.
- Sleep.
- Cut alcohol consumption.
What’s your secret?
