Top 5 Immigration Stories of 2010…really?

It’s inevitable. At this time of year the media and their minions like to do top ten lists because:

  1. They have nothing better to do.
  2. Their editors/producers told them to.
  3. People will read them (eyebrow raised, looking at you).
  4. It’s what they’ve always done.
  5. The highly paid consultant said so.
  6. The intern worked on it for two weeks, poor kid.
  7. The newbie in the newsroom suggested it at the morning meeting, and everyone sarcastically said “that’s a great idea!”
  8. It was either that or “favorite New Year’s Traditions”…wait, didn’t NT do that?
  9. It’s a quick and easy way to fill space.
  10. Everyone else is doing it.

So with that in mind, Southern California Public Radio published a list of the top 5 Immigration stories of 2010. It starts with the Tamaulipas migrant massacre. HERE are the rest.

What do you think? Did they miss any?
