Photos From the Matamoros Friday Shootout

Mexican TV reporter Joaquín Peña Arana from the Televisa Canal 7 affiliate in Matamoros, Tamaulipas has gracefully shared some photos he took of the carnage with NewsTaco.  The photos come from a building in which authorities believed held the now dead head Gulf Cartel, Ezequiel “Tony Tormenta” Cardenas Guillen.

He tells us the photos of the Mexican historical figures is the Colegio San Juan Siglo XXI and the most shot up building is about a block and a half from the main plaza in Matamoros (where, incidentally, yours truly used to hang out as a reporter for The Brownsville Herald — I can’t believe this is happening!).
