Latinos Three Times More Likely To Get HIV Than Whites

A new report shows that Latinos are three times more likely to get HIV in their lifetimes than whites, according to a CDC study.  Specifically, 1 in 36 Latinos and 1 in 106 Latinas in the U.S. are at risk for being diagnosed with HIV in their lifetime, with an overall risk for Latinos of 1 in 52.

Compared to other ethnic groups, Latinos landed in the middle.  African-Americans were more likely to be infected, with a rate of 1 in 22, and Latinos were three times more likely than whites — with a lifetime rate of 1 in 170 — to be infected.

The lifetime risk for Latinos was three times higher than for white males, 1 in 102, and five times higher for Latinas than white females, at 1 in 538.  For more info click here.
