Something to Stimulate Your Sunday Thinking

Many years ago (decades actually) I was a young cadet in the Texas Maritime academy. During the summer (of ’79 and ’80) the 250 or so cadets at the academy would fire up an old 1942 troop transport called the Texas Clipper and we’d take her for a training cruise around the Caribbean and the US Atlantic coast.

My favorite thing on those cruises was to lie on deck and look up in amazement at the night sky. Never in my life had I seen so many stars in the sky. And I’ve never seen as many since.

This video, though, is a very good substitute. I love the starry nights in this time lapse. They’re exactly as I remember them.
