‘Charlie’s Angels’ TV Show to Feature Latina Character

ABC is currently developing a remake of the classic TV show “Charlie’s Angels,” only this redux will include a Latina as one of the angels, in addition to an anglo and an African-American woman.

According to the blog Televisionary:

“Marisa Valdez, our ‘exotic’ Latina beauty with a buff physique and a knowledge of weaponry. ‘She’s an orphan, an immigrant and a former U.S. Marine. She is a weapons expert and is trained in all forms of hand-to-hand combat. Marisa has a no-nonsense attitude, is a Play Station addict and self-confessed neat freak.'”

While I previously wrote about the lameness of typecasting Latinas as nannies (thanks for nothing JLo!), I think I could get into this role just because it’s something different.  A Latina superhero, if you will.  When do Latinas ever get to be super heroes?

Let’s hope it gets off the ground, if I owned a TV (that’s what the Internet is for!), this would certainly be a show I’d like to watch!
