Angle’s Racist Tirades Continue — Thanks to Incredible Funding
Sharron Angle, who is trying to unseat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Democrat of Nevada, has revolutionized hate-politics.
Earlier, NewsTaco.Com provided a link to what may be one of the most hate-inspiring pieces of TV advertising ever aired, ending with an image of three really creepy looking Latinos. Despite the condemnations and revulsion that was expressed from virtually all corners of the country, the ad ran repeatedly.
Now, it turns out that the three guys aren’t U.S. Latinos at all. The image was lifted, without authorization, from Getty Images and it is of three Mexicans — in MEXICO! And it was Getty’s copyright infringement claims that finally pulled the ad down!
Undaunted, Angle continued her openly racist charade. Speaking to student members of the Hispanic Student Union, the high school students asked why she spends so much of her time demonizing immigrants and Latinos. Her responses, says Las Vegas Sun’s Jon Ralston, “ranged from ‘untrue’ to ‘incredibly bizarre.’ ” Among other things, she said that the least secure border was the one with Canada, and suggested that the three cholos she depicted as “illegals” who might go to college, as possibly being Canadian.
As you can see from a phone video of her presentation, she ended up telling the Chicanitos that they didn’t really look too Hispanic, but more like Asians to her.
Now, Salon.com reveals the depth of support this racist is tapping. After analyzing her Federal Election Commission contributions and expenditure reports, Angle spent more than $5 million to raise an astonishing $14 million that is obviously being used to promote racism, nativism, xenophobia and hate.
And the money came from 200,000 people in all states of the Union. Now, more than ever, Latinos and Latinas must get out to vote. If these sorts of things can happen in Nevada and Arizona, they can happen anywhere.
