There’s an app for all things Mex
It was bound to happen. My only regret is that I didn’t think of it first, because it’s a good idea. It’s a Mex-yclopedia app. All the info you need, and that’s currently posted, about all things Mexico/can. The only problems I see are a few, easily counted, shortfalls.
Let’s start with “It would be better if…”:
- it were a wiki, that way it would be more party than information. Imagine all the nuanced entries, the humor, the pleitos!
- it used geolocation.  We all know that the answer to “How do you say ‘I’m lost?'” is different if you’re in  East LA than if you’re in downtown Salt Lake City (there have been recent Latino sightings there).
Another problem. Is there a use for this thing other than novelty? You know, serious stuff other than pictures of enchiladas (Not that enchiladas aren’t serious! Even though there are more varieties of enchiladas than there are words for snow in the Inuit language – I digress. Daniel Pink has already debunked the myth that Eskimos have 400 words for snow. There are, in fact, only a handful.).
About the Mex-app…if you pay the .99 cents and give it a try, let me know what you think. Oh! and let me know if it lists the singular of talames as tamale or tamal. Â This really bothers me.
Here’s a LINK so you can check it out.
