Did you miss Mexico’s Bicentennial “Grito” celebration?

The images from the Zocalo in Mexico City the night of the 15th, eve of Mexico’s Independence day, were at once fabulous, exciting, and surreal. You only get to celebrate a bicentennial once, right?

In the midst of all the negative, dark and frustrating news coming from Mexico there is always the joy of the Mexican people that shines its light into the shadows. Look closely at this video, provided by, of all places, Russia Today.  You can sense the pride in the spectacle, and if you know Mexico as I do, you’d expect no less.

Make sure to watch it through to the end: the image, in light, of Quetzalcoatl emerging from the Cathedral is breathtaking and startling.
