Happy Friday From Los Hermanos Flores!

Founded originally in 1962, La Orquesta Internacional de Los Hermanos Flores, are world renown and are a huge deal both in El Salvador and generally in Latin America. The group, with two of the original members, came to Los Angeles recently at News Taco was there. Prior to the concert at The Conga Room in downtown, the Consul General of El Salvador in LA, Walter Duran, presented the band with a special recognition.

We also spoke to Nory Flores, vocalist, who is such a classy lady in person (you should have seen her dance moves!). When asked how she felt about her Latino fans in the U.S., she said, “For us coming to Los Angeles is like coming to the 15th department [state] of El Salvador. We love our public here, and that younger generations continue to follow the musical culture of El Salvador. It inspires us, it moves us.”

The event on the whole was just swell. There were Salvadoreños from all ages gathered at The Conga Room to see this famous band perform some of their greatest hits. Viejitas and viejitos showed up in their fanciest clothes and were making holes in the dance floor like crazy — some even in the front row!

Which is to say, if like me you were not previously familiar with Los Hermanos Flores check them out below!
