How Will The U.S. Supreme Court Decide On SB1070?

The Supreme Court of the United States recently delved into the immigration issue, deciding on a case from Arizona, a law that  revoked the licences of businesses that failed to verify the immigration status of the people they hire.

There’s been lot’s of noise since the decision was issued, mostly from immigration restrictionists, calling this a victory and a harbinger of what the Justices will do when Arizona’s controversial SB1070 is brought before them. But the recent Arizona immigration case is different from SB1070 on several levels, and the result of one shouldn’t be taken as an indication of what will happen to the other.

The recent case has to do with state licensing and what the federal laws permit states to do in that regard. SB1070 has to do specifically with enforcement and jurisdictional infringement – the state doing what is the responsibility of the federal government.
