BREAKING: Supreme Court Upholds Arizona Immigration Law

The Associated Press is reporting that the US Supreme Court has upheld an Arizona law that

penalizes businesses for hiring workers who are in the United States illegally, rejecting arguments that states have no role in immigration matters.

This isn’t SB1070, it’s another law enacted in 2007 that deals explicitly with businesses that hire undocumented workers.

By a 5-3 vote, the court said Wednesday that federal immigration law gives states the authority to impose sanctions on employers who hire unauthorized workers.

Arizona has appealed a decision of an appeals court that found against some key components of it’s controversial SB1070.
