How Democrats, Republicans Can Lose Latino Votes In 2012
The Latino vote is the vote to lose for both Democrats and Republicans. There are two main ways this can be done, political scientist Luis Fraga, who is Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement at the University of Washington tells us. The risks of losing the Latino vote in 2012 are:
1. Latinos Won’t Get Mobilized – This happens because neither party spends the money to make it happen. This, Fraga tells us, despite the fact that new research shows that getting Latinos to mobilize other Latinos is very effective to get out the Latino vote.
2. Democrats Will Take Latinos For Granted – We already have a precedent for this, anyone remember the 2012 election? If Democrats decide that, hey, there’s no way Latinos are going to vote for those virulent anti-Latino Republicans, well, then maybe Latinos won’t show up for them or will decide that it is, in fact, in their interest to vote for Republicans.
