Brisenia Flores Killer On Trial, Has No Defense
The man who shot 9 year-old Brisenia Flores point blank in the face is currently on trial. Jason Bush, 36, also killed Brisenia’s father Raul when he and his accomplice Shawna Forde entered the Flores household pretending to be law enforcement, but proceeded to shoot the family and rob them.
Shawna Forde received the death penalty for her role in the Flores killings, now Bush is currently on trial and has no defense for his actions; his lawyers report they’re just trying to keep him from getting the death penalty. The Arizona Daily Star reports:
An attorney for accused murderer Jason Bush said Tuesday there is such “overwhelming evidence” Bush gunned down an Arivaca family, killing two of them, that his team doesn’t plan to offer any defense in his upcoming trial.
Defense attorney Richard Parrish said in a motion filed Tuesday that neither he nor co-counsel Chris Kimminau will contest Bush’s guilt because they “would entirely lose their credibility before the jury,” which they would then have to persuade not to impose the death penalty.
Bush is a straight up crazy man, the paper also reports that he’s charged with two murders in Washington in 1997:
Bush is charged in the July 1997 stabbing death of Hector Lopez-Partida, a homeless man, and is a suspect in the September 1997 death of Jon Bumstead, an 18-year-old white supremacist.
Because there’s so much evidence against him, his lawyers waived an opening statement in his trial on Friday, March 18, and didn’t cross-examine Brisenia’s mother, either. He’s on trial for two charges for murdering Brisenia and her father, and one attempted murder of her mother Gina Gonzalez.
We’ll keep you updated on the rest of the trial.
