Border Vigilante Trial Begins For Girl’s Death
And now for a very sad story from Arizona.
In May of 2009 two people entered the home of Raul Flores Jr., his wife Gina Gonzalez and their daughter Brisenia Flores, who was then 9, and opened fire. Both Brisenia and her father were killed after Minuteman American Defense organizer Shawna Forde allegedly organized the attack with her co-accused Jason Bush. Forde’s trial is currently underway.
The Los Angeles Times reported that the attack was partially motivated by money:
Prosecutors allege that in May 2009, Shawna Forde decided to strike an odd alliance with drug dealers in southern Arizona: Forde would help the traffickers ransack their rivals’ houses for stashes of drugs and cash, which could then fund her fledgling group, Minutemen American Defense.
The pair posed as law enforcement officers, entered the home, and Bush shot Flores, Gonzalez, then stopped to reload his gun and as Brisenia asked them “Why did you shoot my dad? Why did you shoot my mom?” and she was shot. The trial is ongoing, we’ll keep you updated. Here’s a video:
