NewsTaco On Univisión, Logo, Redesign And More

2011 is going to be a great year, don’t you think?

NewsTaco may be a young organization, having gotten off the ground only in the fall of 2010, but already we have exciting news to share with you, our readers. Thank you so much for supporting us through our impromptu beginning as a bootstrapped startup in San Antonio, the tragedy of Carlos Guerra’s death, and our continuing push to give you the best news and analysis from a Latino perspective.

Recently, NewsTaco’s Victor Landa appeared with Univisión’s Jorge Ramos on that network’s Sunday talk show, Al Punto. And, in what was a great surprise to us, Ramos said he reads NewsTaco. Another of our writers, Sara Inés Calderón, wrote a piece, Dating Latinos Doesn’t Make Me Racist, that appeared on the Gawker Media blog Jezebel, that has since been winding its way all around the Internet.

Exciting stuff — but there’s more!

NewsTaco is currently set to unveil a brand-new logo that you, our readers, practically begged us for. We’re also set to totally redesign our website, another reader request, so that it will be much easier — and hopefully more aesthetically pleasing — to find the news you need on our site.

Thanks for bearing with us through our humble beginnings as an idea that was born over breakfast tacos, through our tragic loss of our friend, mentor and co-founder Carlos Guerra, and into a totally new year. 2011 will, indeed, be a great year at NewsTaco, but that’s mostly because of the great readership that seems to stick with us despite our shortcomings — and that’s probably the greatest thing of all.
