Chilean Miners Time Person Of Year Runners-Up

The 33 Chilean miners who lived 69 days underground before they were rescued came in as runners-up in Time’s annual Person Of The Year award. Facebook creator and CEO Mark Zuckerberg took home the title this year.

Time wrote of the miners, “The insomnia is a reminder that los 33 — whose miraculous survival and rescue this year inspired a world desperate for a happy ending to something, anything — haven’t yet completely emerged from their dark abyss.”

We wrote about the miners when they were trapped underground, and then when they were saved, and like many around the world were relieved and pretty amazed when they all came out alive and relatively in tact.
