On Being Garcia in the US: You’re number 8!
Apart from a count of the general population that leads to targeted federal spending and the swap meet that ensues at redistricting time, the US Census can give us some nuggets about who we are as Americans.
For instance, the list of the ten most popular (I’m not sure if that’s the right word) surnames in the country. It turns out that two of the top ten are Latino.
Garcia is number 8, and Rodriguez number 9.
