Hotmail and Yahoo Email Accounts Aren’t Really Anonymous? El Famoso Oops.
A New Jersey man was slapped with a 14-count indictment charging him with sending emails to staffers of several Latino organizations threatening them with death or bodily injury.
(Vincent P.) “Johnson admitted that he sent threatening e-mails to individuals and groups because of who they are and what they believe,” U.S. Attorney for New Jersey Paul Fishman said in a prepared release. “Hiding behind the perceived anonymity of a computer screen to make hateful threats will provide no protection from prosecution.”
If found guilty, possible punishment could include the tattooing of a large “P” on Johnson’s forehead.
