Pew: U.S. Latino Voters Concentrated in Southwest
The Pew Hispanic Center used 2008 data to compile an interesting data set and map of where eligible Latino voters in the U.S. are located. Â They also created an interactive map feature that tells you how many eligible voters are Latino in each state and a data sheet with similar information for each state.
A few examples:
- Arizona: Â There are 766,000 eligible Hispanic voters in Arizona, 18% of all eligible voters in the state.
- California: Â There are 5.4 million eligible Hispanic voters in California, 24% of all eligible voters in the state.
- New Mexico: Â There are 525,000 eligible Hispanic voters in New Mexico, 38% of all eligible voters in the state.
- New York: Â There are 1.6 million eligible Hispanic voters in New York, 12% of all eligible voters in the state.
- Texas: Â There are 3.8 million eligible Hispanic voters in Texas, 25% of all eligible voters in the state.
