Teabaggers Tell Border Reps: ‘Go Back to Mexico’

Rio Grande Guardian’s Steve Taylor was the only journalist at the scene, he told me later. His story about the remarks made by U.S. Rep. Rubén Hinojosa, Taylor says, were an aside about the things members of Congress face daily.

Theirs was a confrontation with five male whites who approached the pair of House members outside the halls of Congress.

“They first asked Silvestre Reyes, ‘Are you a Congressman?’ ‘Yes, I’m from Texas,’ he answered. ‘Are you both congressmen?’ ‘Yes, I am a congressman too,’ (Hinojosa) replied. ‘Why don’t you go back to Mexico?’” Hinojosa told educators during a question and answer session at an event at the University of Texas-Pan American.”
