Court to Arizona’s Sheriff Arpaio: Stop it!
Arizona’s Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio was ordered by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals to stop unconstitutional practices in his jails that put his detainees at risk, according to New America Media:
“On Wednesday, the court ruled that Arpaio must stop the ‘severe overcrowding’ at five of eight county detention centers. He must also ensure that all detainees receive the medical and mental health care they need, including continuous access to medications prescribed by a doctor at the detention center. In addition, detainees must have access to bathrooms, toilet paper, soap, and a proper diet.”
